Server-Side ASP.NET : 2,884 bytes (response size)
Server-Side ASP.NET AJAX (Update Panel) : 1,663 bytes (response size)
Client-Side AJAX (with Web Service Call) : 778 bytes (response size)

The talk code includes the pure declarative client-side control sample. This sample also demonstrates how to create templates that can be parsed and used entirely on the client.

is there any way to refresh page contents with client side ajax?
I was there and it was one of the cool and great presentation. I will be doing more pure Ajax development using Microsoft Ajax API.
